WHO IS CLEVER CURTIS?
Humble Beginnings, Blue Collar Roots
My name is Curtis Hamlett (as in, "To be, or not to be," with two 'T's). I am a licensed California Real Estate Agent (DRE: 02102348), a licensed California Life Agent (LIC: 4132810), & an AAS, CS, Information Technology (Web Development Major, Graphic Design Minor).
I was born in Richmond, Virginia, the son of two factory workers. My Grandparents were tobacco farmers in the Piedmont region of the mid-Atlantic. From early life, I was taught the values of Family, hard work, responsibility, & sharing. Ever since becoming aware of my own mortality at age six, I have had an intimate connection with Mother Earth & all of her People. I love GOD, America, my Family, & all of my Friends. I value & respect the views & opinions of everyone, & as we all have unique life experience, anyone can be a teacher or a student (& there is no age limit or expiration date on learning & growing).
I enjoy sharing knowledge, culture, music, history, & laughter. I also enjoy building & nurturing relationships, earning trust, & helping people solve unique problems through clever solutions. My interests include bowling, dog-walking, swimming, shooting, movies, astronomy, digital media, & playing almost any sport with balls. Auto racing is in my DNA, especially NASCAR, & live entertainment really gets it going.
My Heroes include my Mother & my Father, Ross Budrakey, Dale Earnhardt, Joe Gibbs, G Gordon Liddy, Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Donald C. May, Jr., & all those courageous Men & Women who gallantly serve & have served our beloved country. Thank you for your service & sacrifice.
An Epiphany, & An Evolution
Before & after graduating from Meadowbrook High School in Chesterfield, Virginia, I worked a series of blue collar jobs. From fast food, to bowling alley, to construction, to delivery driver, I wore many hats, learning valuable life skills & life lessons. I learned knowing the value of one's self, the phenomenon of self-actualization, & how important it is to moderate & to balance things in life.
At the age of 29, I had a life-changing epiphany that led me to night school. My class schedule was four hours each night, four nights a week, while working 12+ hour days, driving 1,500+ miles each week. In fact, I have driven over one million miles while working in the sports nutrition beverage distribution industry, spanning the territory of Virginia, Maryland, Washington D.C., Delaware, & West Virginia.
As my evolution began, I worked tirelessly to change my life, learning the values of education, leadership, smart work, customer service, determination, & achievement. It was not an easy decision to leave Virginia & my Family for California, but change is the catalyst for all things great, so I would discover.
Clever, To The Power Of Curtis
Since arriving in California in 2005, I have worked for several Fortune 500 companies, including Yahoo!, The Walt Disney Company (credited in seven animated Disney productions), Sotheby's International Realty, & Amazon. While working with these amazing companies, I learned the values of teamwork, sacrifice, & perseverance, overcoming unimaginable adversity while strengthening my resolve & my character. My grit knows no quit.
I have always tried to make the most of my opportunities, but there is still more to do. A lot more. I could continue my pursuit of the brass ring, sequestering my skills & talents to one company or brand, but the independent muse inside my soul longs to help People in need. I also selfishly crave the idea of helping someone do something better than anyone else could have done it.
I believe those with whom you work should share your values & reflect who you are & who you want to be. I am a sound fiduciary, ethical & accountable in every way. I love a good brainstorm, asking questions, & solving problems.
